Dr Amadea Podrenek BChD
Dr Amadea Podrenek qualified from University of Pretoria in 1991. She had a practice in Shepperton for many years and moved to Coniston Dental Practice in 2008. Dr. Podrenek has a passion for creating beautiful smiles. She gains great satisfaction from changing people's lives by changing their smiles with cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Podrenek's approach involves spending time at the New Patient Consultation to listen to you and your particular dental concerns. She will then perform a comprehensive exam to diagnose any existing needs or potential vulnerable areas. With this information a Comprehensive Treatment Plan is created to suit your unique situation. The patient then decides, with her, how to approach attaining optimum dental health. A good maintenance program will also be designed to suit their needs
Having a special interest in cosmetic, aesthetic and restorative dentistry, Dr. Podrenek keeps abreast of the latest dental procedures and technology. She maintains her expertise by completing several hours of study a year with different institutes, locally and abroad, and home study.
She has completed her Masters Level in Aesthetic Dentistry with the Aesthetic Advantage Program at the Rosenthal Institute for Aesthetic Dentistry in the New York University College of Dentistry. On this program she trained hands-on alongside some of the best cosmetic and restorative dentists in the world, including celebrity cosmetic dentist Dr Larry Rosenthal.
She has also gained Level I and II in Functional Aesthetics in Clinical Practice. This is a course presented by Dr. John Cranham from the world wide renowned Dawson Centre for Advanced Occlusal Study in the US. They are leaders in the field of functional occlusion. Functional occlusion is not only a very important and integral part of the smile design procedure, but also important when restoring function and occlusion in mouths that have lost a lot of tooth structure. The latest tooth whitening techniques are also available to patients.
Dr. Podrenek also has a special interest in endodontic treatment of teeth. This is an important dental treatment that helps to keep teeth in the mouth that would otherwise have been extracted.
Being very passionate about preventing decay in not only children's adult teeth, but milk teeth as well, Dr. Podrenek spends a lot of time educating her young patients from an early age in good oral hygiene. All teeth are important for the development of the dentition. Any non-routine loss of teeth at an early age can cause a lot of problems with alignment of the permanent teeth which can then cause orthodontic treatment to be more complex.
Although Dr. Podrenek is married with two children and family life keeps her busy, she finds time to enjoy cooking, needlework, arts and crafts. She occasionally plays golf and goes to Pilates three times a week. Being born Slovenian and raised in South Africa, Dr. Podrenek speaks English, Afrikaans, Slovenian and German.
